MMF Gets Royal Support The
C.E.O. of Murtala Muhammed Foundation, Mrs. Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode
in the company of senior members of Apollo Hospitals Group visited
the ancient city of Kano. During this visit, the team briefed the
Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero on the mission of the Foundation.
The Emir expressed joy at the works of the Foundation in Northern
Nigeria especially Kano. He further pledged his fatherly support
in making MMF’s mission a success. The team also visited the
Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital and the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching
Hospital and communities in need of infrastructural aid supportChildren’s Developmental Centre Ride for Life The Children’s Developmental Centre organized the 2008 Ride-for-Life awareness for autistic children and young adults with disabilities. The Ride for Life is 40 Kilometres bicycle awareness ride. The MMF cycling team was headed by the Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Aisha Oyebode. The 40 kilometres ride ended at CDC’s permanent site at Ibeju Lekki. The Ride for Life is an initiative of the CDC to raise 70 million Naira for its on-going Lagos Living & Learning Centre to house autistic children and young adults with disabilities. MMF is also supporting CDC to set up a centre in Kano. Ogoniland gets computers too The
initiative of the Foundation’s literacy development through
its Computer-for-School project has also delivered 15 computers
to Beeri High School in Rivers State and the delivery was facilitated
by Barrister Joy Nunieh, a renowned lawyer and activist. The computers
were presented at the school’s inter-house sports. MMF also
donated a trophy to the school to encourage fair and active participation
in sports in the school. Barrister Nunieh was joyful that the Foundation
delivered the computers and she noted that not only Beeri High School
students will be the beneficiary but also students coming from neighbouring
communities. The Principal of the School and notable sons of Ogoniland
thanked the Foundation for the computers and the trophy. |
